Grand Teton Brewing

Since 1988 Grand Teton Brewing has been committed to crafting only the highest quality ales and lagers. We take measures at every point in our brewing, packaging and shipping process to ensure that we deliver only the best beers to you. We believe that Teton Valley, Idaho is the best place on earth to craft beer. Our water is glacial run-off, filtered over 300-500 years by Teton Mountain granite and limestone before it surfaces at a spring a half mile from the brewery. Prohibition and the First Step to Repeal

Many people believe repeal was on April 7, 1933. Although that was the day beer (not spirits) were legalized it was not the first step, the official action starting the process was the 15th of February. For more detail on how this occurred visit the NABA blog at – https://northamericanbrewers.org/prohibition-and-the-first-step-to-repeal/

Prohibition and the First Step to Repeal

Ratification of the Eighteenth amendment brought the darkest period imaginable for American Breweries and Beer Drinkers alike. Its supporters thought it a tonic for society’s problems; in reality it did nothing to abate or even slightly slow alcohol consumption; rather, consumption increased as prohibition wore on. Fortunately adoption of the amendment drew the immediate attention of people devoted to repeal of what was called the Great Experiment even before it proved itself the  Great Failure. Early among the anti-prohibition groups was the Association Against the Prohibition Amendment (AAPA). Established in

Yet Another Sad Day in Beer History

On this day in 1945 the SS Egbolen, laden with a vital cargo of War materiel from Wm.Youngers Brewery, struck a mine and sunk. Throughout the war beer was considered an essential element in maintaining the morale of troops. Beer from some breweries was actually packaged in camouflaged (Olive Drab) cans such as this example by Schaefer Beer (see below). Sam Adams no longer a Craft Beer?

The term “Craft Brewer” has a limit set by the Brewers Association that is production under 6 million barrels; data seems to indicate that Boston Beer widely exceeded that production level in 2020. NOTE: this includes all of Boston Beer’s various products. Further analysis will determine the designation that will be applied to Boston Beer; for example, if only beer production is considered the company would remain well under the threshold and could still retain the Craft Brewer title. One reason it may retain its designation is that Boston Beer

This Day in Beer HIstory

February 2 On this date in 1892 William Painter, an Irish American Mechanical Engineer, was granted a patent for the first successful bottle cap. This simple pressed sheet of tin was also called the crown cap because when held upside down it resembled a royal crown. Painter’s invention revolutionized the beer industry and eventually packaged products exceeded the sale of draft beer.
