Over pints of Beer on May 5, 1775, Ethan Allen and the Green Mountain Boys met in the Catamount Tavern of Bennington, Vermont to plan their attack on British held Fort Ticonderoga. Five days later they captured the fort without firing a single shot. The captured cannons were transported to the heights overlooking Boston and their Machiavellian presence forced the British to evacuate that city. Although the tavern is long gone there is a marker which commemorates the meeting place.
