Pelican Doryman’s Dark Ale, Pelican Pub & Brewery, Pacific City, Oregon – Pours chestnut brown with a flash of garnet and is capped by a long, lasting creamy head of foam. Aroma is a complex blend of sweet and roast malt along with a bit of hops, and low fruit. The taste includes cocoa, roast, toffee, toasted bread\biscuit, and a light fruitiness. It almost pushes its way into the porter style but stops short with a lighter body and carbonation which fits the Brown Ale style. Almost a hybrid it offers a very drinkable brew that finishes quickly with a soft bite of citrus.
