On this day in 1906 Pabst Brewing opened a new beer hall on 125th street in New York City. It was one of several attempts Pabst made to crack into the NYC market already crowded by local beer from Ruppert, Schaefer, Rhinegold, Ehret, Ballantine, Trommers and others. The new beer hall was a major commitment, the largest of its kind, it could sit 1,400 at a time.
