Sad Day for Fire-Brewed

On this Day, February 8, 1999, The Stroh Brewing Company of Detroit, Michigan announced it would be exiting the brewing business (It did keep it’s profitable ice cream unit which helped the company survive prohibition).  Founded in 1850 by Bernard Stroh, at 57 Catherine Street ,he originally loaded the beer wagon and made deliveries personally, later building the brewery into one of the top breweries in the country. Monster News

Monster Beverage, a fixture in seemingly every convenience store cooler in the country has longed to get into the alcohol business for well over a year. It appears they’ve finally set their eyes on a target. The company has announced it will acquire CANarchy Craft Brewery Collective, maker of Craft Beers and Seltzers. Affected Breweries include Cigar City (Florida), Oskar Blues (Colorado, North Carolina, Texas), Deep Ellum (Texas), Perrin (Michigan), Squatters and Wasatch (Utah); but not their associated restaurants. New Brewery for Corona

Constellation Brands, makers of Corona Beer sold in the United States, announced plans to invest $ 5.5 Billion in Mexico over the next four years. This includes a new $ 1.5 billion dollar brewery in Vera Cruz. Once operational it will provide the company with capacity never realized when a water dispute caused it to abandon a nearly completed brewery in 2020, located in Mexicali.
