On November 29th in 1650, Cornelius Van Tienhoven, Secretary to the Director General of New Amsterdam, declared that innkeepers should have nothing to complain about the beer tax since they passed the entire amount on to customers. 15 November On this day in 1980, Sierra Nevada Brewing Company of Chico, California brewed its first batch of Sierra Nevada Pale Ale. Many consider it the prototypical American Pale.
