Organizers of the 26th annual Mountain Brewers Beer Fest in Idaho Falls have announced a change in date for the Beer Fest at Sandy Downs. The new date is August 8, 2020. This alteration of the date is solely to ensure the health and safety of all concerned: attendees, brewers, and our amazing volunteers. Any tickets bought for the June 6th date remain valid and will be transferred to the August 8th date. MORE →On March 28, 1836, Frederick Pabst was born. During his original career as a Great Lakes steamboat skipper he met and subsequently married Maria Best. His new bride was the daughter of Phillip Best, a famous brewer in Milwaukee. A year later Phillip convinced his new son-in-law to join the brewery. MORE →On this day in 1906 Pabst Brewing opened a new beer hall on 125th street in New York City. It was one of several attempts Pabst made to crack into the NYC market already crowded by local beer from Ruppert, Schaefer, Rhinegold, Ehret, Ballantine, Trommers and others. MORE →Anheuser-Busch – has announced the release of Budweiser Nitro Gold Lager. The company describes it as a fuller mouthfeel, taste and appearance version of Budweiser with an ABV (Alcohol by Volume) of 5%. The new can contains no ‘widget’ to release the nitrogen. This past week BrewDog expressed interest in possibly buying an existing West-coast brewery to develop into a Brew-hotel “The Doghouse”much like it operates in Columbus, Ohio. This was fresh on the heels of a BrewDog offering for its fans to trade-in used BrewDog beer cans in exchange for a share of the company (three weeks ago) and the opening of its Pittsburgh ‘Outpost’ Brewpub (3 days ago). His friend and brewery owner John Gibson agreed to Johnson fulfilling a dream by spending a night in the brewery. MORE →Milwaukee- based Sprecher Brewing, founded in 1985 has been sold to a Milwaukee based investment group. No details were release on financial terms for the brewery which sold 9,000 barrels in its last reporting year; at it’s peak Sprecher sold 25,000 barrels. In other news, Carol Stoudt of the Adamstown, PA ‘Stoudts’ Brewing has announced her retirement and closing of the brewery at the end of this winter after more than 33 years in operation. At that time it required a can opener (church key) a concept so new the beer came with instructions on how to open it.
